This is a family favorite. My husband and kids will always take white sauce over red. I used to use a recipe online but the last couple months I have not been able to find the recipe. I decided to make my own.
Ingredients
2 Cups heavy whipping cream
1 ½ Cups grated parmesan cheese
3oz soften cream cheese
2 cloves of garlic minced
3 tbsp butter
1 egg yolk, beaten
Pinch of nutmeg
2 tsp of Italian seasoning
Choice of added veggies / meat
Directions
Add butter and garlic to a pan. Sautee until garlic is fragrant.
Mix in heavy whipping cream, parmesan and cream cheese.
Put on medium heat and stir. Do not let mixture over boil so the heavy cream doesn’t curdle.
Once Parmesan and cream cheese is completely melted and incorporated, add nutmeg and Italian season.
Quickly whisk in egg yolk and continue stirring so yolk does not scramble.
Put on low heat and let the sauce simmer.
Pour over noodles or zoodles of choice and ENJOY!
Note: I always add in tomatoes and spinach. When I add tomatoes, I add them in right after the garlic is fragrant. I cook them until tender. I add spinach after the egg yolk to give it time to heat shrimp and cook spinach.
